Web Server Information

An optional web server is available for Aerostar wind turbines.  The web server allows you to monitor your turbine from work, when you are on vacation or wherever you happen to be, as long as you have access to the internet.

Many features of the standard touchscreen display are avialable through the web server.  Some of these features are:

Instantaneous Power Production
Instantaneous Wind Speed
Instantaneous Power Use and Excess Power
Peak Values of Wind Speed and Power
Historical Wind Speed and Power data for the past year.

The image above shows the three main dials.  Wind speed in MPH and m/s is on the left.  The instantaneous output of the turbine in kW, is shown on the middle dial.  The dial on the right shows the power being purchased from the utility company, or power being exported to the utility company.  Each dial also shows instantaneous digital values in the bottom part of the dial.

On the "Energy Purchased" dial, values on the right part of the dial, in red, show that power is being purchased from the utility company.  This is the power you are being billed for.  Values on the left part of the dial show the power being exported to the utility company.  If you have net metering, this is the power that you are receiving a credit for.  When your wind turbine is producing more power than you are using, the needle on the dial moves to the left, and the digital value becomes negative, indicating that you are storing power in the utility grid.  When you are buying electrical power from the utility company, the dial pointer moves into the red and shows the amount of power that you are purchasing.

The Drop Down Panel below the three dials shows peak values of Power (kW), wind gust and generator RPM.  The number of connections/disconnections between the generator and utility company is also shown.  The drop down panel is accessed by clicking on the  "Peak Values" button in the upper left corner of the screen.  All of the peak values can be reset to zero (from the touch screen on the control panel).  Many folks reset the values each morning before leaving for work, so they can check wind conditions and turbine performance during the day from their computer at work.  Each value is time stamped so the user will know when the peak value actually occurred.

Requirements

In order for you to be able to use the web server to access your turbine data, you will need a static IP address.  Before considering this option, you should confirm the availability of a static IP from your internet service provider.  Some providers charge an additional fee for this service.

The graphical interface requires that you install a flash file on your local computer.  The flash interface is a new addition to the previously available web interface.  If you already own one of our web servers, a free upgrade to the new interface will be available.

Please contact Aerostar or your Aerostar dealer for additional information on the web server.  Specifications are subject to change without notice.
