Independence® 32 Estimated Power Production

The top graph is for the standard 32 KW version with rotor optimized for 12-16 MPH winds. The bottom graph is for the 20 KW version with rotor optimized for 8-11 MPH winds.

Note: Power production monthly and yearly averages were based on a Weibull Distribution and rotor performance software developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).  A description of the Weibull Distribution can be found here: http://www.windpower.org/en/tour/wres/weibull.htm

Inputs were as follows:

Weibull K factor = 2.0
Wind Shear Exponent = 0.20
Turbulence Factor = 15%

Because average wind velocities can contain varying distributions of wind speeds, average power production is necessarily an approximation and will vary in accordance with local factors such as height, obstructions, wind shear, turbulence, etc. Various mechanical, aerodynamic and electrical factors can also influence turbine performance. Because of these factors, THE POWER PRODUCTION AT ANY SPECIFIC INSTALLATION MAY BE SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT THAN SHOWN ON THIS GRAPH.  Aerostar does not publish instantaneous power curves for its turbines primarily because these curves are not representative of turbine performance under actual conditions encountered in the field.  The improper use and interpretation of such curves may result in unrealistic expectations of actual turbine performance.
